Julie Stather successfully secures international relocation with a child

Julie Stather has successfully represented a parent who wished to relocate internationally with their child. The case was hard fought as the final order of the court permitting the relocation was something the Cafcass officer didn’t feel able to endorse.

It was a complex case for a number of reasons:

• there were significant cultural issues to be taken into account
•  a balance had to be struck between the weight to be given to relationships with half-siblings  against wider family members,
• the sheer distance for the non-resident parent made spending time with the child expensive and difficult to organise.

The most important feature of the case was that it demonstrated throughout that skilled preparation of supporting statements and appendices is absolutely crucial in these applications.
