Matthew joined chambers after the successful completion of his pupillage which commenced in October 2017 and he accepts instructions on a direct access basis. He is knowledgeable about procedure and practice, and is able to guide his clients through the court process calmly.
“I have had occasion to use solicitors in the past and, with only one exception, I found their service disappointing. People say I am a perfectionist but I would like to put on record I was very impressed with the speed and quality of the service Matthew gave in helping us get our witness statements right and the way Matthew responded to the suggestions we made about the draft order.”
Matthew is happy to accept instructions across the full range of general civil work including personal injury, contract disputes, torts (such as negligence), personal insolvency, debt recovery, charging orders, orders for sale, interim applications, case management hearings and infant approval hearings.
Matthew also has experience in property litigation, including claims involving the sale of land, residential and commercial landlord and tenant matters including possession claims and service charge disputes.
Matthew has a particular interest in employment law, advising and appearing before the Employment Tribunal and the County Court for individual Claimants and Respondent companies in employment claims including Unfair Dismissal, Breach of Contract, Discrimination and Misrepresentation/misleading reference claims. He has experience in dealing with issues at a preliminary stage, responding to applications (such as applications to strike out claims) and representing his clients through to full hearing.
