Once you have submitted your enquiry form, our Direct Access clerks can provide you with an accurate quote specifically based what your case requires. Read about how to instruct us via our 4 step process.
Fees are agreed in advance as a fixed fee for representation/advisory/drafting work or as an hourly rate with an agreed upon limit. If you reach the limit, our clerks will be in touch so you don’t have any unexpected costs. All fees are paid in advance.
Your client care letter will set out in detail the work you have requested the Public Access Barrister to do for you, what they will be able to do to help, and the fee to advise or represent you. It also includes information on cancellation fees, refunds and potential additional work or costs to those you’ve agreed upon.
Once payment has been received your Barrister will start working for you. Payment can be made by debit , credit card or by BACS. Where applicable, the barrister’s VAT number is available on request.
Please note, unless otherwise explicitly agreed, there is a one-off administration charge of £25 plus VAT for all Direct Access clients payable when your case has been taken on by a barrister.
As barristers must carry out all their professional work personally, there will be times when they may not be available or Court commitments may affect the proposed time frame. These are all noted by the clerks and clients kept informed of any changes or potential delays.
The below is an estimate to give you an idea of fees for specific practice areas but is not an exact quote for your case and fees can vary. E.g. seniority of barrister required, level of work required, whether advice or representation etc.
If you don’t see a practice area and quote listed, it is either too broad to give a breakdown of costs or a niche area specific to a particular barrister or small group of barristers. A quote can be provided for your unique situation once you have submitted your form.
