Christopher Rice

Call: 1991

Christopher has practised in London and Sussex since his call in 1991 and specialised in family law for most of his career.

Prior to joining the Bar, he had the advantage of working as an in house lawyer for a London local authority. During that time he gained invaluable experience in the discharge of the responsibilities that a local authority has towards children and adults who live within the area.

His practice now incorporates all aspects of family law and he acts for local authorities, parents and children through their guardian. His particular expertise is in complex ancillary relief applications.

He also undertakes mental health law work and acts for local authorities in respect of their duties under the Mental Health Act 1983.

What the clients say

“Words can not describe how grateful I am that Christopher Rice agreed to represent me. I found him to be extremely level-headed, fair, and efficient. I am incredibly relieved he was able to wrap the case up and not let it drag on. I felt he listened to our concerns but helped guide us to an achievable result. He made the process as painless as possible and the judge’s job easy. I am certain that, if we had instructed a solicitor, we would have had further hearings and therefore incurred greater costs. I am very happy with the outcome. Despite being the respondent, I am in a better position than I was before going to court. I can not thank you enough.”

“Mr Christopher Rice represented me in my recent financial dispute resolution hearing on a direct access basis. I’d worried about seeking legal representation so late in the process and so near to my court date but my fears rapidly dispersed as on our first meeting Mr Rice already had a good handle on my case. Mr Rice had identified that the other party had tried to rely on Australian legislation that does not exist in the UK. This alone saved on our court time and allowed the judge to get on with the matter in hand. Due to the diligence and professionalism of Mr Rice we were able to secure a successful outcome for me to move forward. For what had been a very stressful process for me I only wish I had had Mr Rice representing me from my first court hearing.”
